Farmersburg, Iowa. If you had asked me where that was 15 years ago, I would have told you I had no idea. If you had told me back then that I would start a company with my best friend and we would build a range in Farmersburg, Iowa, I would have told you that you were crazy.

Yet here we are in 2026.

Stronghold Corp was founded in 2013, and we have built an amazing shooting range in Farmersburg that gets better every year.

So Where Is Farmersburg, Iowa?

Farmersburg is located in the Driftless Area of Northeast Iowa. Our range is just 28 minutes from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; 1 hour and 25 minutes from Dubuque; 1 hour and 35 minutes from Waterloo; 1 hour and 40 minutes from Cedar Rapids; 1 hour and 35 minutes from La Crosse; and 2 hours from Rochester, Minnesota.

So now you have an idea of the drive times from the larger cities within two hours of our range.

At Stronghold Corp, our certified instructors have been providing professional firearms training and use-of-force training since 2002. With experience operating in federally regulated environments, we hold ourselves to a significantly higher standard than industry minimums.

After safety, our goal is to help you become better with a firearm and learn real-world skills you can apply should you ever need them.

We have experience training every skill level, from brand-new shooters with no firearms experience to experienced professionals who carry a firearm daily. Our classes are designed to help you learn effectively regardless of your learning style, and we use tried-and-true drills to teach the fundamental skills necessary to safely handle and use a firearm.

The Stronghold Corp Range

If our culture and training offerings weren’t enough to convince you to make the drive, let us tell you about the range.

Located in the beautiful farmland of Northeast Iowa, the Stronghold Corp Range has known-distance targets out to 1,000 yards, along with a short-range area we use for pistol, carbine, shotgun, and NVG Operator classes. It is also where we host our annual Gunfighter Series events and Annual Machinegun Shoots.

Why We Call It “God’s Country”

For years before we started Stronghold Corp, Josh would refer to the area he was from as “God’s Country.”

I really didn’t understand what he meant until the first time I came to the Elkader/Farmersburg area.

As I headed north on Highway 13 out of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and descended down that first hill into the Driftless Area, I started to understand.

This wasn’t just the Mississippi River bluffs I knew growing up in Southeast Iowa.

This was different.

Now, when I stand on the Stronghold Corp range teaching a class or running a stage at an event, I always take a moment to appreciate the big blue sky, the beautiful green mowed grass of the range, and the corn surrounding us as it grows from knee-high to over 10 feet tall throughout the season.

When we teach NVG classes, you may be surprised at the clear skies and just how incredibly dark Northeast Iowa can be.

This truly is God’s Country, and it is a beautiful place to come train.
